Biography
Dr. Yasunori Sakai currently belongs to the University of British Columbia. He received his first Ph.D. from the Tokyo Institute of Technology (2015). After working as the Research Fellow for Young Scientists of the Japan Society for Promotion of Science(2015-2017), he joined both the Laboratory for Future Interdisciplinary Research of Science and Technology (FIRST) and the School of Engineering at the Tokyo Institute of Technology as a Postdoctoral Researcher(2018). He had built up his career there as a scientist focusing on the application of vibration and tribology to various R&D projects about machine elements and material processing technology. In 2019, he moved to Shibaura Institute of Technology as an Assistant Professor Also in 2022 he worked as an Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering at Shibaura Institute of Technology.
His areas of interest comprise functional material, vibration control, manufacturing science, robotics, and tribology. Dr. Sakai received the Young Engineers Award from the Japan Society for Mechanical Engineering in 2019, the Suematsu Award from the Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2018, and the Best Paper Award from the Mazak Foundation in 2015.
