Biography

Dr. Ali Bostani is an Assistant Professor at the American University of Kuwait since 2019. He obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from McGill University in Canada in 2012. His field of research in PhD was computational electromagnetics and more specifically finite element methods and analysis of passive RF structures. He obtained his MSc in 2008 from INRS-EMT, Montreal, Canada and his research focused on ultra wideband antennas and electromagnetic band gap structures.

Dr. Bostani started his career in 2010 while he was still a PhD student. He worked as a research scientist in EMWorks where they were developing a full wave solver for high frequency simulations. In 2012 he accepted the position of Microwave Specialist at SCP Science where he designed and developed two different microwave acid digestion systems called NovaWAVE and MiniWAVE, both of which are being sold worldwide. He was granted two patents during his work at SCP SCIENCE which continued until 2015. Dr. Bostani also started his own consulting company, called MicrowaveSoft in Montreal, Canada in 2013 in which he helped many companies in the United states and Canada to sort out their RF challenges including GE, MightyCast, Nemko, SpectroTec, Chouette, etc. In 2014, Dr. Bostani came up with an invention about the RF shielded textile. His invention was accepted as one of the qualified startup ideas of Canada by NRC (National Research Council) and he started up a company called RFProTex based on that invention. The associated patent was filed in the US patent office as well.

In 2015, he joined the American university of the Middle East as an assistant professor and taught electrical engineering courses for 4 years while he was continuing his research in the field of RF and microwave.

Dr. Ali Bostani is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and has published several papers in different IEEE journals and proceedings.

Dr. Bostani’s research interests are in the fields of finite element method, EBG structures, low profile antennas, RFID, wearable technologies, LTE, 5G, microwave heating and power distribution networks.
