Biography

I am a Ph.D. student at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in the Entomology and Plant Pathology Department. I work as a Graduate Research Assistant in the research programs of Drs. Heather Kelly and Zachariah Hansen, both of whom serve as my co-advisors. My Ph.D. research topics in Dr. Kelly’s program include surveying the distribution and density of nematodes associated with row crops in Tennessee, evaluating the virulence phenotypes of soybean cyst nematode and the impact on soybean plants, and assessing the relationship between densities of charcoal rot fungal spores and charcoal rot severity and damage on soybean. In Dr. Hansen’s program, I study the efficacy of fungicide products against fungal hemp diseases. Prior to my Ph.D. education, I obtained an MS degree in Plant Pathology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in May 2018, where I conducted research studies on plant-growth-promoting rhizobacteria. Before earning my MS degree, I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology from Adekunle Ajasin University in 2013 from Nigeria, where I was born and raised working on cocoa farms. I am a member of the American Phytopathological Society and Gamma Sigma Delta, the Honor Society of Agriculture. I like to develop online courses on plant disease management and write similar content for my blog.
