Biography

David Burgner is a highly productive paediatric infectious diseases (PID) clinician scientist with 30 years’ experience. He trained in the UK and Australia and completed his PhD on susceptibility to severe infection at The University of Oxford. His post-doctoral clinical training in PID, immunology and general paediatrics was at Great Ormond Street Hospital and St Mary’s Hospital Imperial College, London. He is currently a Principal Research Fellow and Leader of the Inflammatory Origins Group at Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI). He co-leads the MCRI LifeCourse Flagship Initiative, the largest grouping of longitudinal cohorts in Australia. He is a PID physician at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, Australia. He holds honorary professorial appointments at Melbourne and Monash Universities, and as the Skou Professor at Aarhus University, Denmark.
