Biography
Md Pauzi Abdullah is an Associate Professor within the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), currently serving as the Director of the Institute of Future Energy (IFE) at UTM. His professional expertise is underscored by multiple registrations and certifications, including as a Chartered Engineer under the Engineering Council, United Kingdom, a Professional Engineer under the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), and a Certified Energy Manager under the ASEAN Energy Management Scheme (AEMAS). Additionally, he is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM).
Dr. Abdullah earned his Bachelor's degree from Universiti Tenaga Nasional (Uniten) in 2002, followed by a Master's and a Doctorate from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, United Kingdom in 2004 and 2008 respectively. He has published over 120 research papers and supervised 6 PhD and 6 Master's students. His research focuses on power systems analysis, electrical energy management & demand response and deregulated electricity markets.
His notable achievements encompass leadership roles within both the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES). Notably, he served as the Chairman for IEEE Malaysia Section (2021-2023) and the Chairman for Power & Energy Society (PES) Malaysia Chapter (2017-2019). Under his leadership, the IEEE Malaysia Section achieved a historic milestone by winning the prestigious IEEE MGA Outstanding Large Section Award in 2022, surpassing over 330 IEEE sections globally. This achievement is particularly significant as it marks the first time IEEE Malaysia has received this international award since its establishment in 1985. On a national level, he has been honored with the Power & Energy Society (PES) Outstanding Engineer Award by the PES Malaysia Chapter in 2021, and the IEEE Malaysia Outstanding Volunteer Award by the IEEE Malaysia Section in 2017.
