Biography
Ana Sofia Figueira Ramos is Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEM) of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC), since September 2019. She belongs to the Centre for Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Processes - CEMMPRE (ex CEMUC). Since April 2022 intregrates CEMMPRE board as vice-coordinator. A.S. Ramos completed her 5 year degree in Chemical Engineering by the University of Coimbra (UC) in 1994. In 1997 she finished the MSc in Materials Engineering and in 2002 she completed a PhD in Mechanical Engineering with full honour (MSc and PhD FCT studentship). Later, she received a Post-Doc grant. From June 2008 to May 2013 she was Auxiliary Researcher (Ciência 2007) at the Centre for Mechanical Engineering of UC (CEMUC). From June 2013 to September 2015 A.S. Ramos was Auxiliary Researcher under the project "MT4MOBI - Materials and Technologies for Greener Manufacturing & Products Applied to Mobility". From October 2015 to December 2018 she was FCT Post-doc fellow. From September 2017 to December 2018 she was also Invited Assistant Professor. Between January and September 2019 she was Researcher at DEM-FCTUC.
A.S. Ramos participated in several R&D projects, e.g.: PTDC/EME/TME/100990/2008 (Microbond), PTDC/CTM/69645/2006 (Nanobrazing), POCTI/CTM/55970/2004, ALMOULD G5ST-CT-2001-00403 (European Project), PRAXIS XXI 3/3.1/CTAE/1904/95. After approval-funded she conducted experiments at renowned synchrotron facilities (ESRF - European Synchrotron Research Facilities and DESY - Deutsch Electron Synchrotron). She was Principal Investigator of Project "CrackFree - Towards self-repairing metallic materials" - PTDC/CTM-CTM/29101/2017 (2018-2021). She was also the responsible at UC of the Project "NanoTiC - Nanojoining of Titanium to Ceramics" - PTDC/CTM-CTM/31579/2017 (2018-2021) leaded by the University of Porto. Currently she participates in three Mobilizing Agendas for Business Innovation within the scope of the PRR – Portuguese Recovery and Resilience Facility (DRIVOLUTION/ AM2R/ INOV.AM), being responsible at UC for two Workpackges.
A.S. Ramos edited 1 book and published 1 book chapter, 76 papers in international peer-review journals, 3 in national journals and 12 in conf. proceedings with refereeing. 69 papers were published in ISI journals, most belonging to top quartile (h index=22, Scopus). A.S. Ramos reviews papers on a regular basis (https://www.webofscience.com/wos/author/record/K-8450-2012) and has been recognized as Elsevier Reviewer. A.S. Ramos is Editorial Board Member of the MDPI journal Coatings. She was Guest Editor of "Intermetallics 2016" special issue of Metals open access journal, and currently she guest edits the "Nanoscale Multilayer Thin Films/Foils" special issue of the open access journal Coatings. AS. Ramos attended 47 International Conferences (33 oral communications from which 4 were invited, 10 posters). In September 2016 she gave a keynote lecture at PSE 2016 - 15th International Conference on Plasma Surface Engineering. She was invited to WEDB - Symposium of World Experts in Diffusion Bonding, and opened it with the oral presentation "Reaction-assisted diffusion bonding of dissimilar materials" (UK, June 2017). As co-author she has 46 oral communications and 22 posters. She was on the organizing committee of Materiais 2013 - XVI Conference of Sociedade Portuguesa dos Materiais, VII International Materials Symposium and of the International Conference Junior Euromat 2022. She is member of International Institute of Welding (IIW) Commission XVII (Brazing, Soldering and Diffusion Bonding), Commission VII (Nano and Microjoining) and European Community Joining Sub-Platform. She completed the co-supervision of 13 MSc theses and the supervision of 6 MSc, one of which the student won the 1st prize of the 2009 contest of the Portuguese Materials Society. She co-supervised a PhD student.
