Biography
Mrs Matendo Rehema Esther is a Congolese, born in South Kivu Province Democratic Republic of Congo. She holds a BSc. in Crop Science awarded by “Université Evangélique en Afrique” and MSc. in Natural Product technology and Value Chain Addition awarded by Sokoine University of Agriculture in Tanzania. Her master’s programme was sponsored by European Union through the project of INTRA ACP mobility. Esther has been working for the Université Evangélique en Afrique as a junior lecturer for the last ten years. This position predisposes her at teaching, conducting research and transferring technologies to community. Esther is currently a second year of PhD in Food science and Nutrition at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and technology under the RUFORUM Programme of Graduate Teaching Assistantship. Her research topic is “Utilization of local plant-based treatment to mitigate mycotoxin contamination in selected food products in South Kivu, DRC”. She is passionate in researching permanent solutions towards ensuring food security and safety at household level. She defended the research proposal both at Department and Faculty levels and she is done with the first objective of the proposal.
