Biography
Sharon Pfleger (NHS Highland, Scotland, UK) is a Consultant in Pharmaceutical Public Health. She is the only dual registered pharmacist and generalist public health specialist in Scotland and is also a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and its expert advisor on sustainability. She is the NHSH Public Health lead on their Environment and Sustainability Committee and represents the Chief Pharmaceutical Officer for Scotland on the Scottish Government’s Climate Emergency Response Board. She chairs the Pharmaceutical Public Health Network in Scotland. She is a co-founding member of the One Health Breakthrough Partnership and is the NHS lead for it in Scotland.
She was NHS Scotland’s National Clinical Lead for Drugs and Therapeutics from 2015 to 2017. She brings expertise in pharmaceutical use at a population level, formulary development, public health knowledge and has strong connections across Scotland, the UK and internationally.
Her research interests lie in the impact of healthcare on the environment, especially the use of pharmaceuticals, and the upstream, public health interventions that help reduce the impact.
