Biography
Marion is a cultural geographer, specialized in global industrial heritage interpretation. She holds a degree from Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, a Master in Geopolitics from Université Paris 8 and a PhD in Urban Heritage from Bauhaus Universität Weimar. During her professional career, she has been participating in three World Heritage site nominations of former industrial regions in France, Germany and Chile.
From 2011 to 2015, she was the first Coordinator of the Berlin Center for Industrial Heritage BZI, from 2016 to 2018, Vicedirector of the Industrial Heritage Department of the Ruhr Regional Association RVR, and from 2018 to 2022, Associate Professor at the Institute for Geography of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Chile. Currently, she in an independent researcher affiliated with the University of Chile, directs the ESPI Lab Valparaíso and acts as Secretary General of The International Committee for the Conservation of the Industrial Heritage (TICCIH).
Her research focuses on global urban history, European technological imperialism and emerging decolonial perspectives on heritage from the South. Marion lives in Valparaíso (Chile) and Berlin (Germany). She speaks and writes English, German, Spanish and French.
