Biography
As a highly respected urban anthropologist and strategic leader, I am passionate about delivering projects to make the world a better place for people who have no formal voice in mainstream public spaces. A subject matter expert, I develop research-based policies and recommendations on home, housing, alternative families and urban neighbourhoods across Europe. Acting as a conduit between academia and real-world context, my cutting-edge research and evidence-based recommendations based on nuanced understanding of situations and best practice are blended to leave no one behind.
Intellectual Curiosity
➜ A creative thinker, I carry out innovative research that shines a light on injustice, inequality and
discrimination. For the last 10 years, I have been conducting in-depth ethnographic research on
the inter-related issues of sexuality, gender alternative domesticities, home and housing policy in
Malta and England. During this time, I have developed government policy, formed cross-sectoral
alliances and presented my findings at international academic and non-academic conferences.
Continuous Improvement
➜ A champion of improving affordable housing accessibility and increasing social awareness, I
continually seek ways to translate my theories into practical deliverables. One project I am
particularly proud of is the establishment of the policy, Sustainable Communities: Housing for Tomorrow endorsed by the UNECE Committee on Urban Development, Housing and Land
Management. The project was designed on a larger anthropological and feminist theoretical
framework that addresses social justice, contemporary family transformations, and
housing.
Communication and Influence
➜ An influencer of key strategic decisions, I consolidate, synthesise and interpret complex data to
conceptualise and deliver meaningful solutions. An experienced practitioner as well as an academic,
I function as a cultural translator across sectors and communities. My publications and teaching contribute to the literature on home and housing, the politics of sharing, co-living, material culture
relatedness and economy.
Global Collaboration and Partnerships
➜ Leveraging advanced interpersonal capabilities, I cultivate and sustain bilateral stakeholder
relationships to expand global networks to advance debate in the anthropological field. Working as
a consultant and as a trusted adviser, I develop and deliver global projects in collaboration with
academic, government and non-government institutions.
