Maria Adilia Januário Charmier holds a Ph.D in Organic Chemistry since1993 from University Blaise Pascal, Clermont Ferrand, France. Dr. M. A. Januário Charmier is full Professor at Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Technologias ULHT since 1994 and Director of the Biotechnological Engineering graduate course. Since 2009 she is Director of the research center CB3 ( Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedicine) and DREAMS (Centre for Interdisciplinary Development and Research on Environment, Applied Management and Space) at ULHT and permanent research member of CQE (Chemical Structural Center, IST, Group V). Her main field of interest is the study of reactions in Organic Chemistry applied to the coordinated-metal complexes Chemistry for the synthesis of novel biological compounds with antitumoral, antimicrobial and antioxidant properties and medicinal interest using “green” technologies as microwave irradiation. Other interests are the use of the microwave irradiation technology in the extraction of plants, fruits and wastes, and their applications in food, cosmetics, pharmaceutical industries and health. Another interest is the Circular Economy : production of biomaterials for building construction and biopolymers for textiles using wastes and green processes.
