Overview
My research explores elements of health psychology and implementation science and behaviour change. My research places a predominant focus on the use of digital health platforms and how acceptable these are to both service users and service providers. Previous projects have focused on telehealth use to provide psychosocial care to those at the end of life, and digital monitoring of individuals with a chronic illnesses. I have published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles exploring the lived experiences of a range of chronic illnesses and rare diseases including cancer, diabetes, COPD, and Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). A secondary research area places focus on the psychological health, physical health, and social inclusion of the LGBTQIA+ community. I am an expert in the use of qualitative approaches and have experience using multiple forms of analysis including (longitudinal) IPA, Thematic Analysis, and Discourse Analysis. Theoretically, my research is underpinned by Self-Determination Theory, Normalisation Process Theory, and multiple theories associated with behaviour change. Prior research has been shortlisted for two national awards including The Nursing Times (Data and Technology in Nursing) and RSPH Public Mental Health and Well-being awards. Pedagogically, I have an interest in the teaching of research methods and am a Senior Fellow of the HEA.
