Biography

I studied Construction Management at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University in Mosbach, Civil Engineering at the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, Economics at the University of Hagen and completed my doctorate in Business Administration at the University of Bayreuth and in Engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). I was a Scientist at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences - Department of Technology & Architecture, Institute of Facade Technology, where I researched and published on Wood-Plastic Composites (WPC). In teaching, I represented topics in Marketing, Management, Economics, Building Physics and Materials Science before my appointment as Professor. I worked for several years in industry in Marketing as Product Manager for reinforcement technology at Schöck Bauteile GmbH (building supplier) and as Product Manager for Wood-Plastic Composites (WPC) at United Paper Mills Kymmene AG (plastics extrudeur) and at Eternit (Schweiz) AG as Head of Materials Technology in research and development (building supplier). Today I am Professor for Business Administration and an expert in the DIN Mirror Committee of the WPC working group.

Since 2018, my research is interdisciplinary and covers both technical and economic topics of sustainability transformation of industry and society, with a focus on Wood-Plastic Composites as the main representative of bio-based plastic composites. Thereby, I combine laboratory-experimental material research with socio-technological survey studies with consumers and experts. Under the research approach "Compolytics", as an acronym for Composite Polymer and Policy Analytics, my research addresses the question of how Wood-Plastic Composite as a substitution technology can support the plastic transformation in industry and society in order to reduce damage from the consumption of petrochemical polymers.
