Biography

Experienced Scientific Advisor and project manager, with a PhD in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and a MSc in Reliability Engineering and Safety Management, with a 20-year demonstrated history of working in R&D, IT services, and naval construction. Actively participated in 23 R&D projects, 15 of which EU financed ones, in the areas of maritime safety, risk assessment, ports, casualty analysis, IT development, human factors, occupational accidents, environmental impacts, and text mining. Manager and Scientific coordinator of research projects. Significant experience in drafting proposals (QREN, COST, FP5, FP6, FP7, Horizon 2020, Eureka, FCT, etc.). External reviewer for the European Commission financed projects. Reviewer for several international journals and conferences. Author and co-author of more than 100 papers and scientific reports. Top 11% Research Interest Score in ResearchGate compared to all ResearchGate members. Research focused on Risk Assessment, Risk Management, Safety Analysis, Occupational Health and Safety, Marine Engineering, Ports, Human Factors, Accident Analysis, and Mathematical modeling.
