Biography
Eng. Pierpaolo Dini obtained a master's degree in Electrical and Automation Engineering with honors from the University of Pisa in 2015. He worked for approximately two years as a system engineer at the company Pure Power Control, in the development of systems driving for AGVs in industrial logistics applications. In 2021 he is the first in Italy to obtain the title of PhD in Smart Industry, achieved with honours, with a thesis entitled "Model-Based Design of Embedded Control & Monitoring Algorithms for Industrial Mechatronics".
His research activities concern the design and integration of control and monitoring algorithms for mechatronic systems on embedded electronic systems, with particular emphasis on industrial and automotive systems.
He is the author of 25 scientific publications (15 of which in important international journals in the Electrical & Electronic Engineering field indexed by Scopus); he has an H-index of 11 (Scopus) and about 250 citations.
He actively and constantly collaborates with leading companies in the automotive and industrial automation sectors, such as MBDA, Marelli, Maserati, VITESCO, Toyota, for the development, integration and also commissioning of embedded systems within research and development activities .
He works within the European Hi-Efficient project, as an expert at the University of Pisa, in the development of advanced control and monitoring algorithms and predictive diagnosis, applied to power electronic converters and new generation electric drives on board vehicles electric and hybrid.
He has worked on numerous activities related to the development of cybersecurity algorithms for monitoring data exchange between ECUs within modern vehicles, with particular focus on the security of the CAN / CANFD protocol. These activities resulted in the issuing of Marelli-UniPi industrial patents.
He currently holds the role of assistant professor, at the Department of Information Engineering at the University of Pisa, for the courses of: "Electronic Systems for Automation and Robotics", teaching held by Prof. Sergio Saponara in the master's degree course in Robotic Engineering ; "Vehicle Electronics", teaching held by Prof. Sergio Saponara in the master's degree course in Vehicle Engineering; "Electronics Laboratory" for the three-year degree course in Mechanics and Production Techniques.
