Biography

Dr Hüsnü Gerengi is a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Düzce University in Turkey. He has represented his country in the International Corrosion Council (ICC) since 2015. His expertise focuses on corrosion and corrosion control, corrosion resistant materials and corrosion inhibitors - especially their principles and mechanisms. He is the first researcher to apply the Dynamic Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (DEIS) method to corrosion inhibitor studies. Using this method, he studies the long-term evolution of impedance in a corrosion cell upon addition of an inhibitor, enabling him to quantify and qualify the effectiveness of inhibitors and coatings.
In addition to corrosion, Dr Gerengi's research interests include plastics and rubber materials technology and plastics and rubber additives. His vibrant and well-equipped laboratory has become a hub of knowledge and research for many post-doctoral researchers, PhD students and undergraduate students. Current research topics in his laboratory include corrosion resistant steel, aluminium, copper and brass alloys, magnesium based bioresorbable medical implants and corrosion resistant construction materials.
Dr Gerengi has given numerous invited lectures at national and international conferences and has authored more than 70 SCI-indexed scientific papers in high-impact journals. He holds seven current patents related to boron-doped corrosion inhibitors. (http://www.husnugerengi.com.tr/ )
