Biography
Dr. Luis Antonio Castillo-Suárez holds a Ph.D. in Water Sciences from the Inter-American Institute of Technology and Water Sciences (IITCA) at UAEMEX. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the same institute, contributing to the development of a state-level technical standard regulating the physicochemical characteristics of textile industry wastewater discharges, including maximum permissible limits. Dr. Castillo-Suárez specializes in creating sustainable technologies for removing persistent contaminants from industrial wastewater and landfill leachates by applying solar radiation to enhance reaction rates. His research also includes coupled advanced oxidation and biological processes to increase the biodegradability of persistent compounds. Currently, Dr. Castillo-Suárez is affiliated with the graduate program in engineering at the Tecnológico Nacional de México/Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Tianguistenco. His research focuses on sustainable production systems, particularly the recovery and recirculation of textile wastewater to promote a circular economy in denim washing workshops in Santa Cruz Atizapán.
