Biography
Giacomo Nicolini has a degree in forestry and environmental sciences and a PhD in forest ecology.
He got skills in the use of the Eddy Covariance (EC) technique for estimating GHG fluxes from terrestrial ecosystems. He worked as a researcher at the Ibimet-CNR in Florence from 2007 to 2009 on dendro-chronological and biometric estimates of forestry plantations in arid ecosystems, and CO2 fluxes data at regional scale. From 2009 to 2011 he completed his PhD at the University of Tuscia in Viterbo, having as a main objective the estimation of CH4 fluxes from a tropical rainforest. In 2012 he worked as a post-doc at the University of Tuscia finalizing the activities carried out during the PhD. From 2013 to 2015 he worked at the Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change (CMCC), in the framework of the Africa-GHG Project (estimation of CO2, CH4 , N2O fluxes from tropical ecosystems by means of the EC technique, management of measurement sites). Since July 2015 he worked as a post-doc at the University of Tuscia on non-CO2 gas fluxes. Since 2020 he is a Senior Researcher at Climate Change (CMCC) - IAFES Division and member of the ICOS-Ecosystem Thematic Centre.
