Biography
Cláudia Manuela de Sousa Rodrigues (CR) is graduated in Applied Biology in University of Minho in 2016 and in 2018 she obtained her Master degree in Health Sciences at the Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS/UMinho). During her master, developed at Agostinho Carvalho´s Lab, CR was enrolled in a project on immunology and metabolism demonstrating that human macrophages infected with Aspergillus fumigatus display a metabolic reprogramming characterized by the induction of aerobic glycolysis and by a specific amino acid consumption. After her Master, CR worked as a research fellow in the same lab during one year. CR was lab mentor of two Master students during their curricular laboratory rotations at ICVS/UMinho. CR participated as a researcher in several national and internactional funded projects that contributed to her multidisciplinary background. In February 2020, CR joined the Immunology, Cancer & GlycoMedicine Group coordinated by Salomé Pinho at the Institute for Research and Innovation in Health (i3S), working as a research trainee under the project "Glycome as a predictor of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) development". Currently, CR is a PhD student in Biomedical Sciencies at University of Porto- ICBAS, and she is focused in understanding the potential role of glycans in the modulation of the intestinal microbiome and immunity and how it can be applied as new preventive therapies in IBD.
