Biography
I am a biologist interested in the evolutionary and ecological implications of plant-animal interactions in grasslands and savanna ecosystems. While most of my research is conducted in Serengeti National Park (Tanzania), I collaborate with a diverse range of scientists and statisticians to ecosystems at a global scale. I use field and greenhouse/laboratory experiments (both plant and soil) in my research and often integrate plant physiological responses to study the responses of savanna plant species to perturbation and disturbance. Moreover, by integrating multiple, hierarchical levels of biology, including plant physiology, plant population biology, ungulate ecology, and landscape ecology, I attempt to bring a broad “systems” perspective when conducting research on ecological communities.
