Dariusz Kasprzak

Biography

Dariusz Kasprzak OFMCap., (born 1966, Kraków (Cracow), Poland) is a priest, theologian and patristic scholar.

He was granted the MA degree in Theology (specialization in History of the Church) in 1992 at the Pontifical Academy of Theology in Kraków. He is also a holder of a BA degree in Patrology which he earned in 1995 at the Patristic Institute Augustinianum in Rome. In 1999 he successfully defended his PhD dissertation at the Patristic Institute Augustinianum in Rome and validated at the Pontifical Academy of Theology in Kraków. In the years 2002-2005, he worked as the assistant to the Chair of Patrology at the Pontifical Academy in Kraków. Two years later, Dariusz Kasprzak was appointed an associate professor at the Faculty of Patrology, Pontifical University of John Paul II in Kraków. In 2008 he defended his habilitation thesis (a postdoctoral degree which leads to professorship) in Patrology, at the Department of Theology. From 2009 to 2012 he was appointed the Vice-Dean of Department of Theology, Pontifical University of John Paul II in Kraków. Since 2019 he is a Titular Professor of Theology. Since 2023, he has been a full professor at UPJPII.

He lectures on patrology at the Pontifical University and the Theological Seminary OFMCap and the Theological Seminary SDB. He also lectures patristic spirituality at the Franciscan Center of Spirituality in Kraków. As a visiting professor he lectures patrology in Rome (at Pontificia Università Antonianum, 2013) and in Firenze (at Facoltà Teologica dell’Italia Centrale, 2016). Between 2000-2016 D. Kasprzak was a chief custodian of the Seminary Library of the Capuchins.
