Biography
Let me introduce myself:
I am Gerardo Cazzato, I am 31 years old, I am Medical Director, Pathologist, PhD student enrolled in the first year of a course in Clinical Medicine, Public Health and Oncology at the University of Bari "Aldo Moro": I graduated from school in 2008 with 100/100 cum laude at the Marcelline Institute of Lecce, I enrolled in Medicine and Surgery after a limited admission competition and graduated in 5 years and 2 sessions with 110/110 cum laude and academic mention always at the University of the studies of Bari. I support the competition for the school of specialization in medicine (SSM 2016) which I win for a place in Pathological Anatomy at the same University. I specialize in 4 years with 70/70 cum laude and, subject to a specific competition, I enter the aforementioned doctoral course. During the 4 years of specialization I went around Italy and Europe, mainly dealing with Dermatopathology, Soft Tissue Pathology and Gynecopathology. I am the state-of-the-art author of 55 publications. Since 24/12/2021 I am a 2nd level Medical Director at the University Hospital of Bari and since 05/01/2021 I am International Fellow of the American College of Pathologists (IFCAP). From the second year of specialization I have been dealing purely with histological diagnosis of Malignant Melanoma, and I have been around Europe to attend various centers to perfect this fundamental aspect of the PDTA of the patient with Melanoma.
I have been a member of the European Society of Pathology since my first year of Specialization School (2016/2017) and I learned about the possibility of the ESP Academy a few days ago, via email. In the last ESP conference I had the privilege of giving a report on SARS-CoV-2 and Placenta, subject that I’ve largely examined and discussed together with my director Prof. Leonardo Resta and Prof. Giovanna Cenacchi of the University of Bologna. As you can see in my Curriculum Vitae, during the last year (2021) I have been able to present posters to the Texas Society of Pathology (TSP), to the Mexican Society of Pathological Anatomy (FEDPAT-MEX), to the annual meeting of the American Society of Pathology (ASDP). I also followed the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and presented three contributions to the annual "virtual" meeting of SIAPEC-IAP 2021.
