Biography
Bachelor of Computer Engineering by the University of Pernambuco - Brazil (2006), Master of Science (Bioinformatics - 2013) and PhD (2021) from the University of Melbourne - Australia, I have extensive experience in Information Technology and data analysis, focussing on systems engineering and genomics of pathogens and vectors of infectious diseases. I am a Public Health Technologist at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation - Aggeu Magalhães Institute (IAM) / Brazil, where I participated in the implementation and consolidation of a Bioinformatics Core Facility, and of an institutional E-learning platform. I'm part of the Fiocruz Genomic Surveillance Network that sequences and identifies genomic variants of pathogens in Brazil. I'm supervised and mentored by Prof. Robin Gasser, Dr Neil Young, and Dr Pasi Korhonen, focussing on parasite genomics and machine-learning.
