She received her M.Pharm in 2009 and her Ph.D. in 2013 from University of Ljubljana. She is recipient of Faculty Prešeren award (2009) for Graduate thesis on synthesis of new hydroxyethylamines as potential inhibitors of ligase Mur, and Krka Prize (2013) for PhD thesis on design and synthesis of inhibitors of Mur ligases and D-alanine: D-alanine ligase. Her area of expertise are drug design and medicinal chemistry with experience in the synthesis of small molecule inhibitors and development of enzyme assays including determination of mode of binding of new inhibitors. Her research areas are antibacterial agents, including inhibitors of bacterial cell wall synthesis (enzyme inhibitors of MurA, MurB, Mur ligase, DdlB and penicillin binding proteins - PBP), inhibitors of InhA as antitubercular drugs and DNA girase inhibitors.
