Biography

Alexandre Heeren is a Research Professor — FNRS Research Associate at both the Psychological Science Research Institute and the Institute of Neuroscience of the UCLouvain, Belgium. An enduring theme across Heeren's research is the understanding of the cognitive and emotional mechanisms of psychopathology, especially of anxiety- (e.g., social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder) and stress-related psychopathology (e.g., parental burnout, reactivity to stressors). Current research with his lab includes extensions to the network approach to psychopathology, investigation of attentional and executive processes as core transdiagnostic mechanisms of psychopathology (e.g., anxiety disorders, mood disorders, addiction, tinnitus), and several translational research agendas (e.g., neuromodulation, cognitive training).
