Biography
Md. Saiful Islam is a final year Ph.D. research scholar in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at The University of Adelaide, Australia. Mr. Islam is a member of Engineers Australia, IEEE, IEEE Young Professionals, Optical Society of America (OSA), and Institute for Photonics & Advanced Sensing (IPAS).
In 2012, he completed the Bachelor's degree at Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET). He secured the position of the first-class second having a grade point average of 3.76 out of 4.00. He completed the Master's degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Bangladesh. He stood first class first and secured a GPA of 4.00 out of 4.00.
After his Bachelor's degree, he started his teaching career at the university level, besides he also served as an academic course coordinator. Firstly, in 2012 Mr.Islam joined as a lecturer and later he promoted to Assistant professor. Mr. Islam also works as a casual tutor at the University of Adelaide, from a recent student evaluation report he rated 6.2 out of 7.0 as an effective university teacher.
In 2017, he won the admission and scholarship from Australia to pursue a Ph.D. degree. His research interests include optical fiber communication, PCF based terahertz waveguides, terahertz sensors, surface plasmon resonance biosensors, topological insulators, metamaterials for sensing applications. Mr. Islam published around 50 peer-reviewed articles and actively reviews for several scientific journals including Nature publishing. Mr. Islam received a top peer reviewer in physics and cross-fields in 2019 as recognized by Publons and Web of Science.
