Biography
After graduating from the University of Calcutta in 1984, I joined the Post MSc Associateshipship program and PhD program of Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP) in 1984-85 and 1985-90, respectively. The PhD degree was awarded on 30 September 1990 by the University of Calcutta. I spent a year as a Research Associate at SINP during 1990-91. I was awarded the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship in 1991 and worked in the Institute for Theoretical Physics, J. W. Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main, Germany as a Humboldt Fellow during December 1991 - May 1993. I spent a few years as a Visiting Scientist at SINP after returing from Germany and joined SINP as a faculty member in July 1997. I retired from SINP in June 2021. I joined Aliah University, Kolkata in June, 2022.
My research interest spanned from nuclei to nuclear matter during my PhD period. Latter I worked on the problems of relativistic heavy ion collisions as a postdoctoral researcher. Over the past 25 years or so, I am involved in the research areas of supernovae, neutron stars with special emphasis on the dense matter, its compositions and equation of state.
