Biography

Dr. Sarah Gelbard describes herself as part anarchitect, part punk planner. She completed her Ph.D. in Urban Planning at McGill University and has master and bachelor degrees in architecture from Carleton University. Sarah is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Criminology at the University of Ottawa working on the bi-directional relationship between criminalization and housing insecurity from an abolitionist and feminist perspective. This work draws on her doctoral research in spatial justice, radical community-based planning and storytelling.
