Biography
Professor Jawad Faiz received the Bachelor and Master’s degrees in electrical engineering from University of Tabriz, Iran, in 1974 and 1975, respectively, graduating with First Class Honors. He received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, U.K., in 1988. Early in his career, he served as a faculty member at University of Tabriz for ten years. After receiving the Ph.D. degree he rejoined University of Tabriz, where he held the position of Assistant Professor from 1988 to 1992, Associate Professor from 1992 to 1997, and has been a Professor since 1998. Since February 1999 he has been working as a Professor at School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, College of Engineering, The University of Tehran. His teaching and research interests are switched reluctance and VR motors design and analysis, design and modeling of electrical machines and drives, analysis of Transformers and fault diagnosis in electrical machines. He published more than 300 papers in international journals and presented 320 papers in international conference. In addition he published three books including Electronic Tao-changer for distribution transformers (Springer), Fault diagnosis of induction motors (IET) and electromagnetic analysis and condition monitoring of synchronous generator (IEEE-Wiley).
He received many national and international scientific awards.
Prof. Faiz is a life senior member of Power Engineering, Industry Applications, Industrial Electronics, Education, and Magnetics Societies of the IEEE, Fellow member of Iran Academy of Sciences and member of Euro-Med Academy of Arts and sciences.
