Biography
Dr. PAOLO BRUSINI was born on July 27, 1950 in Udine, Italy. His current address is Via Pordenone 41, 3100 Udine. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Trieste on October 16, 1975 with a final mark of 110/110. He then completed his 4 year residency and specialization in ophthalmology at the University of Messina on July 30, 1979 with a final mark of 50/50 Cum Laude. He earned the title of chief of ophthalmology from a public contest in 1986, with a final mark of 98/100.
He worked as a staff ophthalmologist in the Department of Ophthalmology at the Civil Hospital of Udine from April 12, 1976 to April 4, 1993. He was then the Head of the Ophthalmology Department at the Hospital of San Donà di Piave from April 5, 1993 to April 15, 1998.
He has been the Director of the Ophthalmology Department at the Santa Maria della Misericordia Hospital of Udine from April 16, 1998 to October 31, 2015. He is currently head of the Eye Department at the “Città di Udine” Health Clinic of Udine (Italy).
He is a member of numerous international professional societies, and founder and honorary president of the Italian Society of Perimetry. He is a reviewer for many international scientific journals (IOVS, BJO, Ophthalmology, J Glaucoma, Graefes Arch Ophthalmol, Acta Ophthalmol, etc.) and Associated Editor for Eur J Ophthalmol. He has done clinical and surgical training in the fields of cataract, glaucoma and perimetry in various hospitals across Italy and abroad (Genova, Lion, Nice etc.). He has participated in over 200 occasions as a guest speaker at lectures and invited presentations at numerous national and international congresses and conferences in various fields of Ophthalmology, Ear Nose and Throat, and Neurology. He has been involved in the teaching and organization of over 400 clinical courses in the fields of computerised perimetry, glaucoma and cataract surgery. His name appears as principle author and/or co-author in over 250 published scientific articles in both national and international journals.
