Biography
Melissa Lim Siaw Han has received a scholarship from the Malaysia Government to pursue her studies in Pharmacy at the University of South Australia (UniSA), obtained he Masters of Science by Research at Swinburne University of Technology (Sarawak Campus) and Phd in Medical Science at Okayama University, Japan. Her professional interest includes cancer therapy, theranostics, nanoparticles, pharmacogenetics and cancer diagnosis. Her latest publications include “Lactosome-conjugated siRNA nanoparticles for photo-enhanced gene silencing in cancer cells” and “A Novel 89Zr-labeled DDS Device Utilizing Human IgG Variant (scFv): “Lactosome” Nanoparticle-Based Theranostics for PET imaging and Targeted therapy. She is currently pursuing several projects in Collaboration with Okayama University and Tokyo University to extend the use of Lactosome nanoparticles to deliver miRNA into other modalilties. She is a member of the Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society and has received numerous awards; Winner for Free Paper Presentation for National Heart Association of Malaysia Annual Scientific Meeting (2013 and 2015). She was also the winner for Abstract Presentation for the 16th Joint Meeting of Coronary Revascularization 2016 in Seoul, Korea, and was the Second Prize Winner for the 9th National Pharmacy R&D Conference 2016. Throughout her career, she was involved in numerous Industry Sponsored Research (ISR) and Investigator Initiated Research (IIR). She also contributes in several non-governmental organisations (NGOs) such as Together Against Cancer Task Force, Society for Cancer Advocacy and Awareness Kuching, Sarawak Breast Cancer Support Group, and New Century Lions Club of Kuching Emerald.
