Biography
Simona Marchesini is a founding member, coordinator and scientific director of Alteritas. A historical linguist, she studied classical archaeology in Pisa and holds a doctorate in comparative linguistics from the University of Tübingen. She is a member of several scientific societies and a reviewer for international peer-reviewed journals. She has worked as a researcher and lecturer at the University of Tübingen, the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa and the University of Verona. He has taught at the Universities of Tübingen and Verona. She is a specialist in fragmentary languages of pre-Roman Italy, to which she has dedicated several monographs (including Prosopographia Etrusca, Gentium Mobilitas, Rome 2007; Le lingue frammentarie dell'Italia antica, Milan 2009), numerous articles and epigraphic corpora (Monumenta Linguae Messapicae, Wiesbaden 2002; Monumenta Linguae Raeticae, Rome 2015). She was vice-chair of the international project on fragmentary languages - Ancient European Languages and Writings (AELAW, COST Action IS 1407 http://aelaw.unizar.es) and Visiting Research Fellow at Trinity College Dublin (Long Room Hub). She was the scientific coordinator of the EU-funded project SELECT. Self-Learning Atlas of Ancient European Cultures (2020-1-IT02-KA201-079057 ) and is currently scientific coordinator of the MSCA RISE project xFormal. Informal and Non-Formal E-Learning for Cultural Heritage (H2020-MSCA-RISE, 2021-2025).
