Biography

Torbjørn Cunis is a lecturer at the University of Stuttgart Institute of Flight Mechanics and Control. He obtained a doctoral degree in Systems Theory in 2019, an M.Sc. degree in Automation Engineering in 2016, and B.Sc. degrees in Aerospace Computer Engineering and Computer Science in 2014 and 2013, respectively. Previously, he was a research fellow of the University of Michigan Aerospace Department in Ann Arbor, MI, where he continuous to collaborate as an adjunct researcher on mathematical optimization and optimal control. In the scope of his doctoral thesis, Dr. Cunis investigated upset recovery approaches for unmanned aircraft in theory and practice. His research interests lie in safety in control applications, aerospace flight dynamics and control, systems and control theory, as well as theory of hybrid systems.

Dr. Cunis is a fellow of the Young ZiF at Centre for interdisciplinary Research, University of Bielefeld and an Adjunct Assistant Research Scientist at the University of Michigan.
