Biography
I studied business education at the University of St. Gallen. From 2002 to 2006 I worked toward my doctoral dissertation under the supversion of Dieter Euler at the Institute for Business Education and Educational Management. I worked on the topic of strategic planning of e-learning support at research universities. During this time, I spent a year as a SNF funded Visiting Scholar at the MIT Center for Educational Computing Initiatives in Cambridge USA. Since the beginning of my work at the Institute, I was involved in the implementation of the media-supported self-study, for which University of St. Gallen was awarded the Medidaprix in 2006. From 2007-2009, I was involved in research and teaching at the Institute as a junior lecturer, always with an organizational perspective on education.
This focus has also characterized my work at the ZHE Centre for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education at Zurich University of Teacher Education, I helped to establish from scratch. First I established and taught a continuing education program for study program coordinators that is running sucessfully up until today. I developed particular expertise on curriculum development processes and lateral leadership and I was able to support many institutions as an external consultant. From 2014-2019 I was leading the 6 person centre and the strategic development of the unit. Since 2019 I am back into research in the position as a professor for teaching and learning in Higher Education.
In the past 20 years I was able to observe major developments in higher education teaching and learning in the Swiss and international context. I developed particular expertise in organizational development and I have been able to contribute with research, larger projects and teaching to the advancement of the field and will continue to do so.
