Biography

Joana Alves was born in Porto in the year 1993. She lived in Vila Nova de Gaia until the age of 18, moving to Braga in 2011 to graduate in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minho. In 2017, she presented her dissertation on Biomechanics, Rehabilitation and Biomaterials at the same institution.
Subsequently, motivated by the rehabilitation field, she completed an internship at a company producing orthopedic and hospital products, Orthos XXI. In 2018, she enrolled in a doctoral program in the same field of study, funded by a scholarship from the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). She also had the opportunity, as part of her research, to work with a team from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland for 6 months between 2019 and 2020.
In the academic year 2021/2022, she enrolled in the Master's program in Teaching Physics and Chemistry in the 3rd Cycle of Basic and Secondary Education, at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto. Currently, she lives in Rio Tinto, is a first-year student in this master's program, works at a study center as a support teacher in the study room and is a private tutor of Physics and Chemistry for the 3rd Cycle of Basic and Secondary Education.
