Biography

Professor Thomas Lange is a PhD-qualified labour economist, leadership certified by Northwestern University and the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), and a proud Alumnus of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

Lange is a globally recognized scholar and senior leader in Higher Education. He currently serves as a Distinguished Visiting Senior Research Fellow, at the College of Business, Abu Dhabi University, U.A.E., invited Affiliate Research Professor at The Centre for Research in Economics of Education, University of Bern, Switzerland, and Professor of Human Resource Management, at Coal City University, Enugu, Nigeria. His senior leadership record captures more than 20 years of service, including positions such as Associate Dean Research, Executive Dean, Pro Vice Chancellor, Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor Research, and Acting Vice Chancellor in Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.

Previous Visiting Senior Research Fellow and Professorships included positions at Aarhus, Lund, Politehnica of Bucharest, Curtin, and Abu Dhabi universities.

His global recognition allowed him to serve as an advisor and examiner of PhD students in Australia, India, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and New Zealand.

Professor Lange is an invited Fellow of the Global Labor Organization (GLO) and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. In recognition of his contributions to the development of global higher education, a Fellowship was also bestowed by the Commercial Education Society of Australia (CES), the country's First Society of Business Education.

His published scholarship features in several premier journals, such as Human Resource Management, British Journal of Management, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Small Business Economics, The Leadership Quarterly, and Journal of Business Research, among several others. Over 70% of his Scopus-indexed articles feature in Q1-ranked journal outlets. Based on 2024 ScholarGPS, Lange is a global top 3% economist whose specialist research on job satisfaction is ranked among the top 0.17% of scholars in the world.

Lange is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the journal Evidence-based HRM (EBHRM) and an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Manpower (IJM), both Scopus/WoS indexed and published by Emerald.
