Biography
Dr. Yao is an accomplished researcher in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in biomechanics, wearable sensors, and vibration-induced injury prevention. She earned her PhD at Concordia University, focusing on developing methodologies for evaluating anti-vibration gloves to mitigate occupational injuries.
After her PhD, Yumeng served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Politecnico di Milano, where she worked on advancing additive manufacturing for limb prostheses, creating a network of fiber optic sensors for real-time user monitoring. She was later appointed as an Associate Professor at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, securing over 2 million research funding and teaching multiple courses while supervising graduate students.
Currently, as a Research Associate at Concordia University, she collaborates with Prof. Rakheja on a project funded by the National Research Council of Canada, focusing on seat-to-head vibration responses.
