Biography

Hirofumi Akari is a Professor, Center for the Evolutionary Origins of Human Behavior, Kyoto University. He is focusing on the mechanisms of viral persistence and latency in refractory infections caused by retroviruses (human immunodeficiency virus and human T-cell leukemia virus) and hepatitis viruses, using non-human primate models. We are also conducting research on the development of new therapies and vaccines that are effective in controlling these viral infections.
