Biography

"Denn ich bin ein Mensch gewesen, und das heißt ein Kämpfer sein"
Goethe "Anlass"
I'm an Applied Mathematician/Geophysicist with almost 50 years experience. I speak and read (with different fluency) nine languages, incl. Arabic, Hindi, Urdu. I never had a car in my life and ride a bicycle. My remaining goals in life are to
learn Gujarati & Sanskrit, solve the Erdos' "10,000$ problem" about the existence of triples in arithmetic progression in any large set of integers, walk the whole length of the El Camino,
and see my grandchildren grow up and the hundreds of my students progress in their career.
My "opus magnum" is a book "Fractal Models in the Earth Sciences" (Elsevier, Amsterdam, 1992) - it contains everything I know about the world. I have some 100 papers of less significance.
