Biography

I am a sleep and circadian rhythm scientist with a background in psychology working at the Centre for Chronobiology of the University of Basel and its Psychiatric Hospital (UPK) in Switzerland. The effects of factors pertaining to life in modern society (e.g., daylight and electrical light at night, physical activity, ambient temperature) on circadian rhythms and sleep are in the focus of my research interests. Additionally, I am also interested in cognitive processing during sleep. Besides this, I am also a sleep therapist at the Sleep Clinic of the Psychiatric Hospital of the University of Basel (UPK). Furthermore, science communication is my passion. Since, May 2023 I am a co-host of the Deutschlandfunk Nova podcast "Über Schlafen".
