Biography
I am a social-cultural anthropologist specializing in research on indigenous communities, Afro-descendants, and populations living in informal settlements. For my master's research, I focused on a border area between Venezuela and Colombia. There, I explored how an Indigenous community, despite being besieged by violence from irregular armed groups, a lack of public services, state neglect, and pressure from Creole society that usurps their land and murders their leaders, can still form a resilient community and strive for a better future. My current focus is on migrant urban communities in Santiago de Chile. I am researching communities with a cultural horizon oriented toward envisioning a future amid a problematic present. This issue is crucial for analyzing the modern capitalist world.
