Biography
Graduated in Physiotherapy, MSc. in Biomedical Engineering, and a PhD in Electronic Engineering from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). Currently working as a scientific researcher in the Biomonitoring Group of CIBER-BBN at the UAB. The research focuses on the processing and analysis of physiological signals monitored through medical and wearable devices, mainly for stress measurement, prediction of mental health conditions, and assessing the effectiveness of stress-reduction interventions.
She has participated in different R&D&I research projects, highlighting the collaboration in the European project STARS-PCP, which developed a solution to reduce pre-surgical stress in patients in 5 different hospital centers in the EU, and eCare-PCP, which proposes a digital solution for the prevention and comprehensive management of frailty. In addition, the participation in the national project ES3-PT, financed by Banco Santander, CRUE and CSIC, in which the mental health status of frontline healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic was monitored with the aim of early detecting symptoms of post-traumatic stress and proposing interventions, such as heart rate variability biofeedback, to mitigate the negative psychological impact derived from the pandemic.
She currently works on the M&M project (CIBER-BBN and Epidemiology) which intends to monitor the mental well-being of young adults remotely, and on HEMOCIDI project, which aims to continue the European RADAR-CNS project in the remote monitoring of patients diagnosed with major depression and multiple sclerosis. She is also a member of the research team in a recently awarded health R&D project that proposes validating a mHealth intervention for stress reduction in patients with refractory epilepsy to be carried out at the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona.
