Biography
Dr. David Shore is a professor in the Department of Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour at McMaster University. As the Principal Investigator of the Multisensory Perception Laboratory, he enjoys working with undergraduate and graduate students on research projects in the fields of multisensory integration, action-perception interactions, multisensory development, and attention. Dr. Shore completed his B.Sc. in Psychology at McMaster University and followed up with an M.A. and Ph.D. at the University of British Columbia. After completing post-doctoral fellowships at Dalhousie University and the Rotman Research Institute (University of Toronto), his journey in academia brought him back to where it all began—returning to teach at McMaster. Now a full Professor in the renamed Department of Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour, Dr. Shore teaches "The Multisensory Mind" (PSYCH 3D03) and "NOISE in Human Decision Making" (PNB 4J03). From 2010-2015, he served as the Associate Chair (academic) of the Department. During this time, the department redeveloped the core curriculum, created a B.A.Sc. in Human Behaviour, a B.Sc. in Neuroscience, and specializations in mental health and music cognition. Dr. Shore also created the PNB 2XD3, a now-required scientific writing course that has elevated all research projects in the department. He has authored or contributed to over 75 publications, in collaboration with colleagues and students in the Multisensory Perception Lab and around the world. He has supervised over 250 students throughout his teaching career, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He is a member of the Psychonomic Society, the International Multisensory Research Forum, and the Canadian Society for Brain, Behaviour, and Cognitive Science.
