Biography
Nkembi Armel Asongu was born in Buea, South West Region of Cameroon in 1996. He received his B.Eng degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, of the University of Buea, Cameroon where he graduated with an honors in 2018.
In September 2019, he was granted the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree Scholarship to study a Joint MSc in Sustainable Transportation and Electric Power Systems (EMMC – STEPS) coordinated by the University of Oviedo, Spain and partnered with the University of Nottingham - UK, Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Coimbra (ISEC) - Portugal and Sapienza University of Rome - Italy.
At the moment, he is a doctoral student at the University of Parma, Italy with main research work focused on Power electronics applied to electric vehicles.
He has done many works on electrical control systems notably speed control of AC Drives using indirect vector control in synchronous reference frame, V/Hz open loop speed control of AC drives with stator voltage compensation, Optimal size and location of DG using MATLAB, Off-grid sizing of renewable energy systems, design of solar hybrid dryer systems, automatic irrigation systems, liquid level control systems, design of unified power flow controllers using MATLAB, low voltage energy harvesting and grid injection.
His research interests include renewable energy systems and their integration to the power network, concentrated solar Power, smart grid modelling, power electronics applied to electric vehicles and Power systems, UPFC and HVDC systems and Energy storage systems.
