Biography
Currently employed as a research associate in a postdoctoral role at the University of Sheffield. The aim of my research is to investigate and improve the treatment for glioblastoma, a disease which generally still has a poor prognosis, using innovate new technology. This is in combination with obtaining and culturing appropriate cell models isolated from patient derived biopsies here in Sheffield.
Previously conducted my PhD research in oncology and chemistry at the University of Sheffield. My work focused on the development of transition metal based drugs to treat superficial cancers.
My skill set
* Cell line derivation from patient derived biopsies
* Tissue culture 2D and 3D (spheroid and 3D scaffolding) with primary and established cell lines
* Bioassays (immunofluorescence, cell viability, molecular detection, cell response pathways, organelle function)
* SDS-PAGE western blot
* Scientific writing
* Combination therapies
* Scoring and data analysis (in vitro and in vivo)
* Bioinformatics
* Microscopy (widefield, confocal, two-photon and TEM)
* Chemical spectroscopy and excited state dynamics
* Nanoparticles (synthesis and translation to cells)
* Protocol development
