Biography

I'm a Chemical Engineer, whom decided to pursue biological-oriented questions. For that reason, I enrolled in a Ph.D. degree studies in the Stem Cell field (UAlg, Portugal) with the main objective of understand basic mechanisms of mouse embryonic stem cell differentiation. Besides wet-lab contributions, I also had the opportunity to participate in developing an online analysis tool during a collaborative project with the Systems Biology and Bioinformatics Laboratory (CBMR, UAlg, Portugal).
Furthermore, while my PhD work has provided some answers to my questions, then I became intrigued by a related question: how a cell can undergo malignant transformation leading to cancer?.
So, this question encourages me to work on molecular targets during malignant leukemic cell transformation, under the supervision of Nuno Rodrigues dos Santos, at Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde (i3s, Porto, Portugal).
