Biography

Marelie Davel is a Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, North-West University (NWU). She specialises in the theory and application of machine learning techniques, with a specific interest in deep learning. She is the director of the MUST Deep Learning research group, a node representative of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research (CAIR), a NITheCS (National Institute for Theoretical and Computational Sciences) Associate and a National Research Foundation (NRF) rated researcher. Her current research focuses on generalisation in deep learning.
