Biography
Dr. David A. Wood
Following a PhD in geochemistry from Imperial College London in 1977, I held post-doctoral fellowships at Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris and University of Birmingham (U.K.) studying ocean floor geochemistry, participating in deep-water drilling. Between 1980 and 1987 I worked as a senior geologist for Phillips Petroleum and Amoco, working in Europe, North Sea and West Africa. From 1987 to 1995 I worked with subsidiaries of what is now Lundin Oil based in Colombia, Dubai and UK, taking combined technical and commercial roles, including: Exploration Manager, Vice-President and Managing Director positions. From 1995 to 1998 I managed a portfolio of North Sea and onshore UK oil and gas assets for Canadian independent Morrison Petroleum. From 1998 to present I have worked as an independent consultant, focusing on geoscience, financial and engineering aspects of oil, gas and energy industries. Clients include oil, gas and financial companies and government organisations. As well as consulting, I spend a good deal of time conducting research and short-term training for a number of organizations. I was the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering (JNGSE) from 2013 to 2016 (impact factor 2.1 in 2016), having worked with the publisher and the late Prof Michael Economides to start the journal in 2008/2009. I am currently co-Editor-in-Chief of Advances in Geo-Energy Research
