Biography
A Health and Development Expert with more than 20 years cumulative experience leading teams (local and international) in health systems strengthening, monitoring, evaluation and learning, health research, health care financing and capacity building in international health and development programming across Africa. Experienced in strategy development, planning, program implementation and managing performance. Successfully managed national and international programs, has excellent communication and writing skills and able to manage multidisciplinary teams. This includes experience working with health and development partnerships in Malawi, Lesotho, Mozambique, Tanzania, Botswana, Rwanda and a 16-year tenure with the Ministry of Health in Zambia. She also has specific experience leading assessments/reviews of programs in regional economic communities or regional intergovernmental bodies such as SADC, EAC, ECSA HC, NEPAD AU including serving as a country team lead for various assignments across Africa. This has resulted in program expansion, timely delivery of results and maintaining networks across Africa and other continents in various sectors. She has demonstrable ability to work both remotely and in person with coordination of global or national teams. Has significant experience in formulating recommendations for various audiences (policy, technical or community). She holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences and Public Health as well as a Master of Public Health (Health Economics) degree. First author and co-author on more than 70 peer-reviewed articles on health systems, health security, malaria, national health research systems, reproductive health, health policy, health economics, health care financing, priority setting, malaria, tuberculosis, non-tuberculous mycobacteria, HIV/AIDS and COVID-19, with a special focus on low/middle income countries. Currently, she is supporting assessment of a digital health ecosystem in a low-income country in the SADC region with a view to provide recommendations to guide scale up and systems strengthening efforts.
