Biography

Julia Neugarten is currently completing her PhD at the Radboud University, Nijmegen in the project Anchoring Innovation. Her dissertation has the preliminary title "Gods, Heroes, Myths: Anchoring and Innovating Classical Motifs in Fanfiction." She obtained a research master's in Literary Studies from the University of Amsterdam in 2021.

Her research interests include fan communities, fanfiction, digital humanities and food studies. During her master's, she completed an internship at the Huygens Institute for the History of the Netherlands, researching the way that the impact of books is expressed in online book reviews. Julia also worked as a research assistant in the TRACE-project: Tracking Radio Archival Collections in Europe

From 2021 to 2022, Julia worked as a project manager in CLARIAH work package 6: Text. She worked on several use cases developing and showcasing tools and datasets for the digital analysis of texts.
